Maysan rose farms south of Taif draw nature and rural tourism lovers

Maysan governorate in the Makkah region boasts a mountainous environment ideal for rose cultivation, benefiting from a mild climate, fertile soil, and abundant seasonal rainfall. During the blooming season, the rose farms become a major attraction, where the fragrance of roses blends with the scenic mountain views, showcasing the area’s agricultural and tourism richness.

Rose farms are spread across mountain slopes and valleys, cultivating Taif roses and Sultani roses, highlighting the region’s diverse agricultural landscape. The highlands, morning mist, and mountain breezes create a distinctive atmosphere, making walks through the farms especially appealing to nature lovers, photographers, and rural tourism enthusiasts.

Peak production and visitor experience

Farmer Mohammed bin Saad Al-Humaili Al-Harithi explained that Maysan’s rose farms benefit from the moderate mountain climate, which supports the growth and productivity of rose bushes throughout the season. He noted that peak production occurs in April each year, when the flowers bloom in abundance and harvesting begins early in the morning to preserve the roses’ quality and fragrance.

Al-Harithi added that the farms produce both Taif and Sultani roses, which are highly valued by growers for their quality and strong scent. He also noted that the blooming season attracts visitors who tour the farms, learn about the stages of rose cultivation and harvesting, and enjoy the natural scenery of Taif’s southern highlands.

A tourism destination supporting rural travel

Al-Harithi emphasized that the rose farms have become a main destination for summer visitors traveling along the tourist route south of Taif, offering an experience that combines nature, agricultural production, and local heritage, and contributing to the growth of rural and agricultural tourism in the governorate.
