King Salman, Trump Stress their ongoing Joint Efforts to Boost Regional Security

Saudi Arabia and the US underlined on Friday their continued efforts to boost the security and stability of the region.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz and US President Donald Trump held a telephone call; in which they stressed the historic and strategic ties between their countries and the achievements they have led to.

King Salman highlighted Saudi Arabia's efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen. He also noted the Saudi-led Arab coalition's declaration of a ceasefire in the war-torn country aimed at backing UNs' efforts in this regard.

For his part, Trump stressed that the US committed to protecting its interests. Besides, the security of its allies in the region.

He said Washington was determined to confront everything that destabilizes the security and stability of the region. Trump also added that the US supports reaching a political solution to the Yemen conflict.

The White House said the two leaders "reaffirmed the strong United States-Saudi defense partnership."

"The two leaders agreed on the importance of stability in global energy markets," White House spokesman Judd Deere said.

They also discussed "other critical regional and bilateral issues and their cooperation as leaders of the G7 and G20, respectively," as well as the latest developments linked to the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic and efforts to boost the global economy.
