Desert locusts’ situation under control in KSA

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has reasserted that the desert locust's situation and movement is under control while releasing indicators that the threat to thwart the menace is being managed.

The Ministry stated that the situation is under control as exploring and combat teams are on alert to carry on with their intensive tasks to eradicate the locusts, in addition to following up the situation in neighboring countries.

The Ministry, in addition, reiterated its rapid intervention plans set to thwart locusts' swarms as they invade the border areas.

It showed indicators related to the desert locusts situation and movement in the different regions of the Kingdom during May as well as June 2020 to highlight the situation.

On the indicators of the threat, the ministry reasserted that the current situation of the locusts could be classified as orange or yellow, in neighboring Oman and Yemen, while the threat is red in the Horn of Africa countries.

The spread of the locust has taken more than seven months now with the swarms varying in numbers in wide range of areas.
