Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health recorded on Sunday 1,079 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, a slide for the second straight day marking a drop from Friday's figure of 1,236.

The ministry reported 14 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 474,191 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,677.

The ministry also recorded 1,214 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 455,618

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 320, followed by the Riyadh region with 216, the Eastern region with 206, and the Asir region with 100 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,896 active cases and 1,516 of them were in critical condition.
