Clinical Trials Launched to Produce First Saudi COVID-19 Vaccine

The Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University kicked off the first phase of clinical trials to produce a vaccine against COVID-19.

The university has completed laboratory tests that have proven their efficacy against the virus.

The Saudi ministry of Education also supports this move.

The development also reflects the work exerted by Saudi universities towards national efforts aimed at producing the first Saudi vaccine against COVDI-19.

The university has signed a contract with one of the largest specialized companies in the UK and Sweden. It has also worked with leading companies in the production of vaccines and medicines such as AstraZeneca; with the aim of creating appropriate quantities for use in the first phase of clinical trials.
