ZATCA Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle 732,000 Amphetamine Pills at Jeddah Islamic Port

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Jeddah Islamic Port thwarted an attempt to smuggle 732,015 amphetamine pills concealed in a shipment arriving at the port.

ZATCA official spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi explained that the shipment, which arrived at Jeddah Islamic Port and consisted of wardrobes, was inspected using advanced security technologies and live equipment during customs procedures, revealing the hidden pills inside.

He added that following the seizure, ZATCA immediately coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of four intended recipients of the seized items in the Kingdom.

He emphasized that ZATCA continues to tighten customs controls over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to safeguard society from such threats, working in close and continuous coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.

He urged public cooperation in combating smuggling to protect both society and the national economy by reporting any smuggling actvities through its dedicated security hotline at 1910, via email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or by calling the international number 009661910.
