Trump urges rapid US interest rate cuts to 1% or lower

Former US President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for a rapid reduction in US interest rates, shortly after the Federal Reserve raised rates by a quarter percentage point due to inflation—the first increase in three years.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump said: "We are carrying almost all the countries of the world on our shoulders, and this cannot continue. Lower interest rates in the United States, and do it quickly!"

Trump stressed that US interest rates should be at 1% or lower.
