The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization has affirmed that the Saudi Quality Mark is a key indicator of product reliability and consumer protection in the local market, especially as product variety and brand options continue to expand.

The organization explained that the quality mark process involves five main stages: meeting specification requirements, on-site product evaluation, conformity verification, product licensing, and ongoing monitoring. It noted that compliance with standards remains mandatory even after a license is granted.

Continuous growth in certified products

Statistical data shows that the number of products licensed to carry the Saudi Quality Mark reached 456,410 by the end of July 2026, up from 422,713 at the end of 2025. Products with the mark grew by 23.28% in 2025 compared to the end of 2024, while growth from the end of 2022 to the end of 2025 reached approximately 206%.

Mandatory standards for high-risk products

Spokesperson for the organization, Wael bin Abdulrahman Al-Dhiab, stated that the quality mark provides consumers with a clearer way to compare products and make purchasing decisions, while also reflecting companies’ adherence to relevant technical regulations. He noted that while the mark is generally optional, it is mandatory for certain high-risk products to ensure the highest safety and quality standards. These include cement, ready-mix concrete, rebar, ceramic and porcelain tiles, steel sheets, gas-powered appliances and accessories, aluminum composite panels (cladding), electrical plugs, sockets and switches, and oxo-biodegradable plastic additives.

Boosting competitiveness and supporting the national economy

Al-Dhiab added that the mark’s importance goes beyond verifying compliance; it also helps companies develop their products and enhance their reliability and competitiveness. He said the mark fosters a quality-driven competitive environment, positively impacting the national economy and raising the standards of Saudi products in the market.
