Industry ministry opens bidding for 11 mining sites in Riyadh, Eastern Province

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has announced the launch of bidding for 11 mining sites across two complexes dedicated to sand, fill materials, and salt ores in the Riyadh and Eastern Province regions. This initiative is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance in the mining sector, attract quality investments, and support the development of local communities near mining projects.

Ministry spokesperson Jarrah bin Mohammed Al-Jarrah said the sites include five locations in the sand and fill materials complex south of Al-Ha’ir in Riyadh, covering a total area of 2.25 square kilometers. The remaining six sites are in the salt ore complex at the Umm Al-Shuraybat, Aba Al-Hamam, and Al-Mamlaha sabkhas south of Buqayq in the Eastern Province, spanning 10.45 square kilometers.

Al-Jarrah noted that applications will be accepted from August 9 to 28, 2026, via the digital "Tadeen" platform. The bidding process includes registration, competitor qualification, the auction launch, and the announcement of results and winning companies.

Boosting investment and community development

The ministry aims to encourage investment in the mining sector and raise standards of governance and transparency through the allocation and development of mining complexes. Additional goals include protecting mining sites from unauthorized encroachments and fostering growth in areas neighboring mining activities.
