Saudi platform seeks public input on 25 economic and development projects

The unified electronic platform for public and government feedback (Istithlaa), operated by the National Competitiveness Center, has launched 25 projects related to economic and development affairs. These projects, developed in cooperation with 19 government entities, aim to enable stakeholders to submit their views and suggestions before final approval.

Among the projects is the draft Executive Regulation for the Management of Seized and Confiscated Funds in Money Laundering and Related Predicate Offenses and Terrorism Financing Crimes. Proposed by the General Authority for the Guardianship of Minors’ Funds and their Equivalents, it seeks to regulate the authority’s operations by defining procedures for receiving, safeguarding, and managing funds under the regulation, and to enhance transparency and efficiency by documenting and preserving all procedures related to managing seized and confiscated assets. Public consultation on this project closes on August 27, 2026.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has also introduced a project to update the Executive Regulation for the Protection of Aquatic Environments from Pollution. This aims to align with Cabinet Decision No. 406, which approved the establishment of the General Authority for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea. Feedback on this project is open until August 28, 2026.

To improve access to advanced telecommunications services and boost the competitiveness of the sector and its companies, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission has launched a project to update the regulations on retail telecommunications service tariffs. The goal is to ensure clarity and transparency in procedures, uphold principles of equality and non-discrimination, with consultation open until August 28, 2026.

Other projects on the platform include the Draft Requirements for Operating Parcel Station Activities, proposed by the Transport General Authority. This initiative aims to regulate the sector, create an attractive investment environment, improve last-mile service quality, enhance competition, and protect beneficiary rights. Public input is accepted until September 1, 2026.

Launching these draft regulations and related projects through the Istithlaa platform underscores the commitment to greater transparency in the legislative environment, promotes a culture of public consultation among citizens, government agencies, and the private sector, and involves them in shaping business-related projects.
