Sessions of Media International Forum Commence in Jeddah
The sessions of the Media International Forum, themed "The Role of Media in Inciting Hatred and Violence – Risks of Misinformation and Bias," commenced in Jeddah on Sunday.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, and the General Supervisor of the Official Media in the State of Palestine Minister Ahmed Assaf.
In addition, several ministers, leaders from Islamic and international media, as well as a select group of ambassadors, religious, intellectual, and legal figures, along with leaders of international organizations, were in attendance.
The forum is being held as part of the strong collaboration between the Assistant Secretariat for Institutional Communication at the Muslim World League (MWL) and The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA). This partnership represents an independent specialized body, operating within the framework of shared objectives.
During the opening session, several journalists from the Palestinian territories made participations, discussing the challenges they face in fulfilling their professional duties in the context of Israeli aggression.
Additionally, a short film was presented, highlighting the media's role in shaping public opinion and influencing societal awareness, both positively and negatively.
During the forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Assistant Secretariat for Institutional Communication at the Muslim World League (MWL) and The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA)
