Saudi Arabia launch the First International Standards Summit

Saudi Arabia will launch under the patronage of the Minister of Commerce , Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the International Standards Summit in Riyadh, as the first international summit to discuss issues related to standards and their roles in facing crises and supporting digital transformation, within the events of the Saudi Presidency of the G20.

International speakers and representatives of international organizations including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will participate in this summit, as well as heads of national standardization bodies in various countries of the world.

The International Standards Summit will shed light on the role of standards and national standardization bodies in facing crises, and their roles in enabling governmental, private and non-profit bodies to overcome these crises and reduce their negative effects. The summit will also discuss the role of standards in promoting digital transformation.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) and the Saudi Secretariat of the G20 will organize this summit in partnership with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Organizing this qualitative summit as the first international summit specialized in standards on the sidelines of the year of the Saudi Presidency of the G20 is an affirmation of pioneering roles being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to promote ways and means of cooperation and integration between the countries of the world in various fields, especially technical fields that enhance economic capabilities and push the rates of trade and investment exchange to broader horizons.
