Saudi Arabia chairs the 9th meeting of the GCC Standing Committee for Statistical Work in Jeddah

Members of the Standing Committee for Statistical Work, heads of statistical centers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, held their 9th meeting in Jeddah today, chaired by the President of the General Authority for Statistics in the Kingdom (GASTAT), Dr. Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Dosari.

A joint workshop was held on the sidelines of the meeting, aimed at raising the level of performance concerning the availability and exchange of statistical data among member states and working to implement the statistical strategic plan.

In the meeting, members of the committee reviewed various topics related to strengthening cooperation among the GCC countries to advance the statistical sector and develop teamwork to achieve strategic support and coordination in the statistical field.

The meeting discussed efforts to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations of the previous meeting, and the completion of the study of statistical indicators to measure the extent to which the decisions of the Supreme Council are implemented on the ground, in addition to discussing the importance of knowledge development for employees of statistical agencies, developing their skills, exchanging experiences, activating means of cooperation, and keeping pace with developments and global and common challenges facing the statistical work in the GCC countries.
