Commerce Ministry to launch 2026 sales season online from August

The Ministry of Commerce has announced that the 2026 sales season will begin on August 1, 2026, corresponding to 18 Safar 1448 AH, and will continue until October 31, 2026, corresponding to 20 Jumada Al-Akhirah 1448 AH, lasting for three months.

The ministry explained that commercial establishments and online stores can obtain sales licenses electronically through the ministry’s dedicated platform, without affecting their annual quota of discount days.

The new electronic system aims to make it easier for businesses and online retailers to obtain and print licenses, which can then be displayed to consumers. This provides shoppers with more options to compare prices and make informed purchasing decisions.

The ministry confirmed that consumers can verify the legitimacy and accuracy of discounts by scanning the barcode on the sales license with their mobile phone camera, which will display all relevant details, including the type and percentage of discounts, their duration, and basic business information.
