Riyadh Witnesses the Launch of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Applications Hackathon
The city of Riyadh witnessed today the launch of the "Fourth Industrial Revolution Applications Hackathon", organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in partnership with the National Industry Development and Logistics Program, and continues until August 10, with the participation of more than 400 participants from innovators and creators from various sectors to develop innovative technical solutions aimed at enhancing the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution applications in 4 different tracks: industry, energy, mining and logistics services.
Based on the Ministry's belief in the importance of raising awareness of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and its direct impact on achieving the goals of the National Industry Development and Logistics Program, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was keen to enhance the adoption of technologies and digital transformation in the four sectors, enhance research and innovation and contribute to raising the percentage of entrepreneurs in technical fields, which ensures achieving economic, environmental and social sustainability.
The tech hackathon focuses on the importance of adopting the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in innovative ways, allowing participants to learn how to apply these technologies and use them in developing new solutions during three days of joint work and support from more than 50 experts and specialists to provide a number of workshops and advisory and guidance sessions, while participants will form homogeneous teams in four main sectors: industry, energy, mining and logistics.
In his speech during the opening, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Future Capabilities and Jobs, Ibrahim AlNasser, stressed that the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution represent a golden opportunity to achieve qualitative progress in many fields, explaining that the goal of the hackathon is to highlight the importance of adopting the technologies of the Industrial Revolution in innovative ways, and to provide a stimulating environment for learning, cooperation and exchange of ideas. He expressed his confidence in the participants’ contribution to transforming the Kingdom into a leading industrial power and a global platform for innovation and development.
