Sukkari dates lead sales at Al-Khubar and Riyadh Al-Khubar Date Festival

Sukkari dates have dominated sales at the Al-Khubar and Riyadh Al-Khubar Date Festival market, accounting for more than 70% of total sales during August. This surge is attributed to rising demand from shoppers and traders, fueled by the high quality and variety of the crop.

Ibrahim Al-Sunaytan, manager of the date sales and auction area at the market, said that current demand is focused on several Sukkari products, led by the "Galaxy" variety—a type of Sukkari Rutab from Qassim known for its firm texture and red color. Other popular types include Sukkari "Muftal," "Nashif," and "Rutab," each attracting varying levels of consumer interest.

He noted that the market offers a wide selection of dates, with ample quantities available, and that stable prices have contributed to increased buying and selling activity.

Meanwhile, date vendor Saleh Al-Abri reported receiving large orders since the market opened in early August, with shipments sent to cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Makkah, and Abha. He described this year's Sukkari crop as being of particularly high quality.

In addition to Sukkari, the market features a range of other date varieties, such as Nawae, Wanana, Shaqra, Barhi, Khalas, Dukhaini, and Nabtat Salma, catering to diverse consumer preferences and local market needs.
