Pilgrims on the eighth day of Dhu Al-Hijjah, known as the Day of Tarwiyah, headed to Mina in a state of Ihram in accordance with the traditions of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).
Islamic guidance for the day recommends that pilgrims travel to Mina before the Dhuhr prayer and perform the Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr prayers there, shortening the four-unit prayers without combining them, before spending the night in Mina ahead of the Day of Arafah.
Pilgrims are also encouraged to perform ghusl, renew their intention for Ihram and frequently recite the talbiyah while travelling to Mina.
At sunrise on the Day of Arafah, pilgrims proceed from Mina to Arafat while reciting the talbiyah and takbir.
