Saudi merchandise exports fall 4.5% in June 2026: GASTAT

Official data from the General Authority for Statistics on Tuesday showed that Saudi Arabia’s merchandise exports declined by 4.5% year-on-year in June 2026, reaching about $23.4 billion (SAR 87.76 billion).

According to the statement, non-oil exports including re-exports fell by 9.7% in June 2026 compared to the same month in 2025. National non-oil exports excluding re-exports dropped by 11.4% to around $4.07 billion (SAR 15.25 billion), while the value of re-exported goods decreased by 6.7% to about $2.49 billion (SAR 9.33 billion).

Imports also declined in June 2026, falling 3% year-on-year to approximately $18.78 billion (SAR 70.45 billion). The merchandise trade balance narrowed by 10% year-on-year in June to about $4.62 billion (SAR 17.31 billion).

Non-oil merchandise exports to imports

The ratio of non-oil exports (including re-exports) to imports decreased in June 2026, reaching 34.9% compared to 37.5% in June 2025. This was due to a 9.7% drop in non-oil exports versus a 3.0% decline in imports during the same period.

The leading imported goods were "machinery, electrical equipment and parts," accounting for 25.7% of total imports, down 20.4% from June 2025. "Chemical products and related items" made up 11.2% of total imports, rising 30.5% year-on-year.

Japan was the top destination for Saudi exports, representing 13.2% of total exports in June 2026, followed by South Korea at 11.5% and China at 9.4%. Other major export destinations included India, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Egypt, Malta, Taiwan, and Singapore. Exports to these ten countries accounted for 67.1% of the total.

China remained the largest source of Saudi imports, making up 22.0% of the total in June 2026, followed by Switzerland at 8.4% and the United States at 8.3%. Other key import partners were India, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Egypt, Italy, France, and Japan. Imports from these ten countries represented 65.2% of the total.
