Saudi POS transactions top 267 million, exceed SAR 16 billion in a week

The number of point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia reached 267,108,000 between July 26 and August 1, 2026, with a total value of 16,310,584,000 riyals (SAR), compared to 12,263,687,000 riyals during the same period previously.

According to the Saudi Central Bank’s weekly POS report, the transport sector recorded 7,992,000 transactions worth 1,255,052,000 riyals, while the health sector saw 10,863,000 transactions totaling 983,832,000 riyals. Restaurants and cafes accounted for 63,676,000 transactions valued at 2,044,388,000 riyals, bakeries and confectioneries had 6,758,000 transactions worth 285,481,000 riyals, and hotels recorded 1,106,000 transactions totaling 367,627,000 riyals. Food and beverage transactions reached 60,711,000 with a value of 2,691,606,000 riyals, while clothing and accessories saw 11,838,000 transactions worth 1,408,597,000 riyals. The culture and entertainment sector registered 4,408,000 transactions valued at 412,907,000 riyals.

Professional and commercial services saw 17,207,000 transactions totaling 968,317,000 riyals. Electronics and electrical appliances recorded 2,308,000 transactions worth 221,602,000 riyals, while furniture and household supplies had 3,128,000 transactions valued at 516,103,000 riyals. Building materials and construction registered 3,200,000 transactions totaling 431,544,000 riyals, jewelry saw 359,000 transactions worth 418,648,000 riyals, telecommunications had 5,704,000 transactions valued at 246,158,000 riyals, and education recorded 139,000 transactions totaling 177,832,000 riyals.

Utilities and public services saw 891,000 transactions worth 64,022,000 riyals, fuel stations recorded 18,987,000 transactions valued at 1,117,868,000 riyals, laundry services had 3,340,000 transactions worth 70,403,000 riyals, and other services accounted for 44,496,000 transactions totaling 2,628,594,000 riyals.

By city, Riyadh led with 82,883,000 weekly POS transactions valued at 5,229,751,000 riyals. Makkah recorded 10,325,000 transactions worth 648,774,000 riyals, while Madinah saw 10,304,000 transactions totaling 649,022,000 riyals.

Tabuk recorded 5,056,000 transactions valued at 293,493,000 riyals, Hail had 4,834,000 transactions worth 287,128,000 riyals, Abha saw 5,004,000 transactions totaling 295,877,000 riyals, and Buraidah recorded 4,834,000 transactions worth 287,128,000 riyals.

In Alkhobar, there were 4,939,000 transactions valued at 408,350,000 riyals, Dammam recorded 9,595,000 transactions worth 725,726,000 riyals, Jeddah saw 29,798,000 transactions totaling 2,183,430,000 riyals, and other cities accounted for 31,208,000 transactions valued at 1,361,122,000 riyals.
