Mawani launches Himalaya Express service at Jeddah, King Abdullah ports

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced that Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has launched its new Himalaya Express shipping service at Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port, strengthening maritime connectivity, improving supply chain efficiency, and supporting trade between Saudi Arabia and global markets.

The new service will link Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port with 12 regional and international ports, including Colombo in Sri Lanka; Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Vizhinjam International in India; Las Palmas, Valencia, and Barcelona in Spain; Sines in Portugal; Gioia Tauro and Messina in Italy; Abu Qir; and Al Ba'a, with a capacity of up to 18,000 TEUs.

This initiative is part of Mawani's efforts to enhance Saudi Arabia's ranking in global performance indicators, supporting national exports in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, and reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub and a key link between three continents.

Jeddah Islamic Port features 62 multipurpose berths, a logistics zone for innovation and re-export, a direct truck transport system to and from the port, as well as several dedicated terminals and advanced facilities, including two container handling terminals and a range of marine services, with a total capacity of up to 130 million tons.
