US Treasury Secretary announces launch of 'economic isolation' campaign against Iran

US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has announced the launch of an 'economic isolation' campaign against Iran.

Besant added that anyone who stands with Iran or engages in economic activities with it will face prosecution, noting that Iran continues to chant 'Death to America' and is at war with the United States and its allies.

He continued that the United States will shut down every potential source of income for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and that President Donald Trump has asked certain countries to halt their dealings with Iran, with further action expected from other nations.

The secretary added that Trump is making phone calls to world leaders to sever economic ties with Iran. He said the US has decided to suspend general licenses that previously allowed some financial transactions with Iran, and that the sanctions target Iran's digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping sectors.
