Ministry of Industry conducts 1,597 inspections of factories in August 2026

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, represented by the Agency for Industrial Services and Compliance, conducted 1,597 field inspections of industrial facilities across various regions of the Kingdom during August 2026. These visits focused on monitoring factories’ adherence to the necessary requirements for industrial operations and taking regulatory action against violators, as part of the ministry’s efforts to improve the investment climate, strengthen governance, and ensure fair competition in the industrial sector.

According to a ministry statement, the inspections covered 536 factories in the Makkah region, 405 in the Eastern Province, and 396 in the Riyadh region. Additional visits included 74 in Qassim, 68 in Madinah, 29 in Jazan, 27 in Tabuk, 21 in Najran, 19 in Al-Jouf, 17 in Asir, as well as three in Hail and two in the Northern Borders region.

Monitoring compliance and required licenses

The ministry affirmed that it will continue field inspections to ensure industrial facilities comply with regulatory requirements, and to monitor that national factories provide high-quality products meeting approved standards and specifications. Efforts also include addressing the status of factories operating outside designated industrial cities.

The ministry requires industrial establishments to obtain an industrial license, environmental permit, location permits, and all necessary safety and operational licenses. For food and pharmaceutical industries, a license from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority is required before production begins, in addition to quality conformity certificates for products subject to technical regulations issued by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization.
