Deputy environment minister, poultry producers discuss boosting local output, food security

Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti met on Wednesday with members of the National Poultry Producers Committee at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh to discuss strategies for developing the poultry sector and improving local production efficiency in support of Saudi Arabia’s food security system.

The meeting addressed several key topics, including increasing domestic poultry production and its products, ensuring stable and sufficient market supplies, and enhancing production efficiency. The discussions also focused on fostering cooperation between the ministry and the private sector to boost self-sufficiency in line with national targets and the sector’s future vision.

Participants noted that this initiative builds on the ministry’s achievements in the poultry sector, with self-sufficiency in poultry meat exceeding 76 percent and high efficiency in table egg production.

Strategic projects and private sector partnerships

The meeting highlighted the ministry’s ongoing implementation of strategic projects to localize technologies and production capabilities, as well as to facilitate investments and partnerships with the private sector. These efforts aim to improve supply chain efficiency and apply the highest standards of safety and biosecurity.

These initiatives are aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to establish a sustainable and competitive agricultural and food sector.
