Saudi Contractors Authority launches workforce development program in Madinah

The Saudi Contractors Authority, in partnership with the Madinah Chamber of Commerce and the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha'at), has announced the launch of a workforce development program in Madinah aimed at preparing Saudis to enter the construction sector. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to empower national talent and enhance their understanding of opportunities, career paths, and requirements within the industry.

The program is designed to provide both theoretical and practical training for those interested in construction, introducing participants to the sector's environment and opportunities, the fundamentals of starting and managing a business, and the challenges associated with projects. It also aims to expand participants' knowledge in administration, finance, and marketing, while offering the chance to benefit from the expertise of industry professionals and practitioners.

The 28-day program features three interconnected tracks. It begins with a five-day self-learning phase, in cooperation with Monsha'at, starting August 23, 2026. This phase focuses on operational planning, business plan preparation, feasibility studies, human resources management, accounting for non-accountants, and marketing for startups.

Details of in-person training and specialized track

Following the self-learning phase, participants will attend 15 days of in-person training hosted by the Madinah Chamber of Commerce. This includes direct meetings with sector experts, practical activities, and site visits to construction projects, allowing participants to gain firsthand insight into the work environment and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world practices.

Site visits are a key component of the program, providing opportunities for direct learning from professionals at active sites. The program concludes with an eight-day specialized track delivered by the Saudi Contractors Authority Academy, covering topics such as construction project management, occupational safety and health, and budget planning and cost control. This final phase aims to deepen participants' understanding of the administrative, technical, and financial aspects required for efficient project execution.
