Bander Al-Juaid, professor of economic media at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, explained the reasons behind Saudi Arabia’s strength in the transport sector.

Speaking to Asharq Bloomberg, Al-Juaid said the transport sector has been a key focus for the Kingdom since the launch of Vision 2030. He noted that regional circumstances have turned Red Sea ports into a regional logistics hub, helping to mitigate the negative impact of the Strait of Hormuz closure on Gulf Cooperation Council economies.

The professor added that Saudi Arabia’s logistics flexibility and transport sector capabilities have supported manufacturing and ensured the global market’s energy needs are met, despite fluctuations in supply chains.

Al-Juaid also highlighted the diversity of agreements related to international shipping centers and routes, as well as increased investment to boost capacity and connect the Kingdom’s western ports to new shipping lines and maritime transport companies.
