Key Takeaways
AIThe Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) conducted more than 59,000 inspection visits during the third quarter of 2026, targeting markets and commercial outlets across various regions and cities in the Kingdom, in cooperation with relevant authorities.
ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that the inspection teams covered several commercial sectors, most notably retail, gold, and tobacco shops.
He noted that the main violations detected included failure to issue electronic invoices, failure to collect value-added tax, and the sale of tobacco products without tax stamps.
Al-Harbi added that these visits aim to enhance compliance with the Kingdom’s tax regulations among business sector taxpayers, ensure tax fairness, and reduce commercial practices that violate the authority’s rules and regulations.
He urged consumers to report any establishment found committing tax violations through the ZATCA smartphone app. The authority offers rewards of 2.5% of the value of detected violations and fines, up to a maximum of 1 million riyals (SAR) and a minimum of 1,000 riyals, according to specific guidelines.
