Saudi POS transactions top 267 million, exceed SAR 16 billion in a week

Saudi Arabia recorded 267,108,000 point-of-sale (POS) transactions between July 26 and August 1, 2026, with a total value of 16,310,584,000 riyals (SAR), compared to 12,263,687,000 riyals during the same period previously.

According to the Saudi Central Bank's weekly POS bulletin, the number of transactions in the transport sector reached 7,992,000, valued at 1,255,052,000 riyals. Healthcare saw 10,863,000 transactions worth 983,832,000 riyals. Restaurants and cafes registered 63,676,000 transactions totaling 2,044,388,000 riyals, while bakeries and confectioneries had 6,758,000 transactions worth 285,481,000 riyals. Hotels recorded 1,106,000 transactions valued at 367,627,000 riyals. Food and beverages accounted for 60,711,000 transactions totaling 2,691,606,000 riyals. Clothing and accessories saw 11,838,000 transactions worth 1,408,597,000 riyals, and culture and entertainment recorded 4,408,000 transactions valued at 412,907,000 riyals.

Professional and commercial services registered 17,207,000 transactions worth 968,317,000 riyals. Electronics and electrical appliances had 2,308,000 transactions totaling 221,602,000 riyals. Furniture and home supplies saw 3,128,000 transactions valued at 516,103,000 riyals, while building materials and construction recorded 3,200,000 transactions worth 431,544,000 riyals. Jewelry accounted for 359,000 transactions totaling 418,648,000 riyals. Telecommunications saw 5,704,000 transactions worth 246,158,000 riyals, and education registered 139,000 transactions valued at 177,832,000 riyals.

Utilities and public services had 891,000 transactions worth 64,022,000 riyals. Fuel stations recorded 18,987,000 transactions totaling 1,117,868,000 riyals. Laundry services saw 3,340,000 transactions worth 70,403,000 riyals, and other transactions amounted to 44,496,000 with a value of 2,628,594,000 riyals.

By city, Riyadh led with 82,883,000 weekly POS transactions valued at 5,229,751,000 riyals. Makkah recorded 10,325,000 transactions worth 648,774,000 riyals, while Madinah saw 10,304,000 transactions totaling 649,022,000 riyals.

Tabuk registered 5,056,000 transactions worth 293,493,000 riyals. Hail saw 4,834,000 transactions valued at 287,128,000 riyals. Abha recorded 5,004,000 transactions worth 295,877,000 riyals, and Buraidah had 4,834,000 transactions valued at 287,128,000 riyals.

In Alkhobar, there were 4,939,000 transactions worth 408,350,000 riyals. Dammam recorded 9,595,000 transactions valued at 725,726,000 riyals. Jeddah saw 29,798,000 transactions totaling 2,183,430,000 riyals, while other cities recorded 31,208,000 transactions worth 1,361,122,000 riyals.
