Daily auctions boost date trade at Buraidah International Dates Carnival

The Buraidah International Dates Carnival is witnessing brisk daily commercial activity, attracting traders from across the Kingdom and abroad who flock to purchase premium varieties of dates through public auctions, which are among the most prominent marketing methods during the season.

Sales at the carnival grounds rely on direct auctions, allowing farmers to market their produce through organized mechanisms. Traders focus on selecting high-quality varieties, drawing on their expertise in evaluating products and monitoring daily supply, demand, and prices.

After purchase, marketing strategies for dates vary. Some traders opt to resell immediately to capitalize on daily demand, while others prefer to store dates in dedicated warehouses and cold storage facilities, preparing to market them later based on market changes, thereby maximizing commercial returns.

Khaled Al-Naqidan, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee and CEO of the Buraidah International Dates Carnival, explained that daily auctions play a pivotal role in organizing sales and purchases at the carnival, helping to achieve fair market value for dates through buyer competition, which supports smooth commercial activity throughout the season.

He noted that prices for certain varieties and quantities vary according to product quality, rarity, and demand, reflecting the diversity of products on offer and the market's response to supply and demand levels, and confirming the effectiveness of auctions in enhancing the crop's economic value.

The organizational and logistical services provided by the carnival have facilitated smooth sales and purchases by preparing auction areas, offering storage facilities, and providing transport and shipping services, which help maintain product quality and improve supply chain efficiency.

The Buraidah International Dates Carnival continues to strengthen its position as a specialized platform for date marketing, connecting farmers with traders, supporting smooth crop trading, and enhancing the presence of Saudi dates in local and international markets.
