Saudi point-of-sale spending hits 14.2 billion riyals in one week

Point-of-sale transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled 249,682,000, with a value of 14,191,529,000 riyals (SAR) during the week of August 9–15, 2026, compared to 14,596,013,000 riyals in the previous week.

According to the Saudi Central Bank's weekly report, the number of transactions in the transport sector reached 7,127,000, valued at 1,062,042,000 riyals. Healthcare saw 9,799,000 transactions worth 846,033,000 riyals. Restaurants and cafes recorded 60,235,000 transactions totaling 1,823,980,000 riyals. Bakeries and confectioneries saw 6,278,000 transactions worth 240,800,000 riyals, while hotels had 1,047,000 transactions amounting to 348,782,000 riyals. Food and beverage transactions reached 58,088,000, valued at 2,196,275,000 riyals. Clothing and accessories accounted for 10,532,000 transactions worth 1,243,800,000 riyals, and culture and entertainment saw 3,941,000 transactions totaling 349,417,000 riyals.

Professional and commercial services recorded 16,121,000 transactions valued at 838,048,000 riyals. Electronics and electrical appliances had 2,075,000 transactions worth 194,742,000 riyals. Furniture and household supplies saw 2,641,000 transactions totaling 422,875,000 riyals. Building materials and construction recorded 3,050,000 transactions worth 393,604,000 riyals. Jewelry accounted for 294,000 transactions valued at 320,013,000 riyals. Telecommunications saw 5,068,000 transactions worth 179,133,000 riyals, and education recorded 160,000 transactions totaling 446,079,000 riyals.

Utilities and public services registered 830,000 transactions valued at 55,114,000 riyals. Fuel stations saw 18,082,000 transactions worth 1,021,976,000 riyals. Laundry services recorded 2,949,000 transactions totaling 53,282,000 riyals. Other transactions amounted to 41,365,000, with a value of 2,155,534,000 riyals.

By city, Riyadh led with 79,801,000 point-of-sale transactions valued at 4,839,468,000 riyals. Mecca recorded 9,709,000 transactions worth 573,665,000 riyals, while Madinah saw 9,586,000 transactions totaling 567,188,000 riyals.

Tabuk registered 4,540,000 transactions valued at 227,510,000 riyals. Hail had 4,224,000 transactions worth 219,187,000 riyals. Abha saw 4,697,000 transactions totaling 263,375,000 riyals, and Buraidah recorded 5,470,000 transactions worth 343,924,000 riyals.

In the Eastern Province, Alkhobar recorded 4,676,000 transactions valued at 382,570,000 riyals, while Dammam saw 9,136,000 transactions worth 651,955,000 riyals. Jeddah registered 27,700,000 transactions totaling 1,880,252,000 riyals, and other cities accounted for 28,517,000 transactions valued at 1,109,260,000 riyals.
