Aramco has signed a contract with US-based KBR to carry out engineering and development work at the Marjan oil and gas field, located off Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast in the Arabian Gulf.

Aramco selected KBR to provide engineering and project execution services in support of facility upgrades at the Marjan offshore project. The scope includes key oil and gas processing facilities, gas compression, and in-field power systems.

According to Al Arabiya, KBR stated that the project aims to maintain Marjan’s production capacity in light of recent developments at the field, enhance associated gas processing capabilities, and support the long-term performance of critical offshore assets by integrating digital technologies, automation systems, and power infrastructure upgrades.

Jay Ibrahim, President of Sustainable Technology Solutions at KBR, said the contract reflects the company’s longstanding relationship with Aramco in project delivery. By combining KBR’s extensive offshore engineering expertise with advanced automation and digital integration, the company aims to help Aramco achieve its objectives.

The engineering work is expected to be carried out primarily from KBR’s offices in Houston and Alkhobar, leveraging the company’s decades of experience in delivering complex offshore energy infrastructure projects in the Middle East and worldwide.

The Marjan oil and gas field, operated by Aramco, has undergone multi-billion-dollar expansions aimed at maintaining crude oil production at around 800,000 barrels per day, alongside a significant boost in associated gas processing capacity.
