Saudi Ports Authority adds RC2 shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has added the RC2 shipping service, operated by Ocean Network Express, to Jeddah Islamic Port. This move aims to strengthen maritime connectivity between Saudi Arabia and global markets, while enhancing the port’s competitiveness and operational efficiency.

The new service links Jeddah Islamic Port with ports in Shanghai, Ningbo, and Nansha in China, Aqaba in Jordan, and Sokhna in Egypt, with a capacity of up to 1,643 TEUs. This initiative is part of Mawani’s efforts to improve Saudi Arabia’s ranking in global performance indicators and support national export activity.

Strengthening maritime connectivity

The addition of the service aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which seeks to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub and a key link between three continents.

The new service also enhances Saudi Arabia’s presence on the international maritime transport map and demonstrates the advanced infrastructure and readiness of Jeddah Islamic Port to accommodate more shipping services, thanks to its operational efficiency and high handling capacity.

The expansion of shipping services at the port reflects its ability to support trade flows and strengthen maritime links between Saudi Arabia and regional and international markets.

Advanced operational capabilities

Jeddah Islamic Port is a key logistics and commercial center on the Red Sea coast, covering an area of 12.5 square kilometers.

The port features 62 berths, several specialized terminals, advanced equipment, and a range of marine service berths for towing and pilotage operations.

It also includes dedicated halls for receiving pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors, all fully equipped.
