Khaled Al-Fardan, a lecturer at the National Power Academy in Dammam, said that the growth in Saudi oil exports in May reflects the continued need of global markets for Saudi oil.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Ekhbariya TV, Al-Fardan added that Asian markets are showing notable growth in oil demand despite price fluctuations. He noted that the export figures for May send a clear message that Saudi oil remains a key pillar for the growth of global markets.

He further stated that the Kingdom demonstrates strong production and supply capabilities as part of a strategic goal to help stabilize global markets. The recorded figures also reinforce confidence in Saudi production and supply, as the Kingdom's strategic aim is to maintain economic stability and balance supply and demand.

Al-Fardan continued, saying that this increase leads to higher financial revenues, which the Kingdom manages wisely by investing in accelerating Vision 2030 projects, ensuring the sustainability of the Saudi economy, and securing future budgets against unforeseen challenges.

Data from the General Authority for Statistics showed that total merchandise exports rose by 3.9% year-on-year in May 2026 to about 93.78 billion riyals (SAR), compared to around 90.29 billion riyals in May 2025. Petroleum exports increased by 19.5% in May to approximately 70.89 billion riyals, up from about 59.33 billion riyals in May 2025.
