Point-of-sale transactions in Saudi Arabia reached 226.156 million during the week of July 19 to 25, 2026, with a total value of SAR 12.263 billion, down from SAR 13.024 billion the previous week, according to the Saudi Central Bank's weekly report.

The food and beverage, and restaurant and café sectors accounted for the largest share of activity. The food and beverage sector recorded 53.125 million transactions worth SAR 1.911 billion, while restaurants and cafés saw 55.554 million transactions totaling SAR 1.644 billion.

The report showed 16.618 million transactions at fuel stations amounting to SAR 909.706 million, and 14.371 million transactions in professional and commercial services worth SAR 734.985 million. The health sector registered 8.704 million transactions valued at SAR 761.026 million, while the transport sector saw 6.132 million transactions worth SAR 953.638 million.

In other sectors, clothing and accessories recorded 8.463 million transactions totaling SAR 964.306 million, culture and entertainment had 3.451 million transactions worth SAR 297.210 million, and bakeries and confectioneries saw 5.846 million transactions valued at SAR 215.139 million. The hotel sector registered 885,000 transactions totaling SAR 295.330 million.

The report also noted 2.717 million transactions in building materials and construction worth SAR 383.469 million, 2.470 million transactions in furniture and household items totaling SAR 413.410 million, and 1.895 million transactions in electronics and electrical appliances worth SAR 183.188 million. The jewelry sector recorded 279,000 transactions valued at SAR 346.795 million.

The telecommunications sector saw 4.680 million transactions worth SAR 160.791 million, while the education sector recorded 121,000 transactions totaling SAR 104.668 million. Utilities and public services registered 745,000 transactions worth SAR 50.633 million, and laundry services saw 2.594 million transactions valued at SAR 45.766 million. Other transactions amounted to 37.505 million, totaling SAR 1.888 billion.

By city, Riyadh led POS activity with 72.570 million transactions valued at SAR 4.156 billion, followed by Jeddah with 26.011 million transactions worth SAR 1.733 billion, and Dammam with 8.537 million transactions totaling SAR 578.944 million.

Elsewhere, Makkah recorded 8.736 million transactions worth SAR 497.503 million, Madinah had 8.619 million transactions totaling SAR 487.643 million, Buraidah saw 5.037 million transactions worth SAR 304.515 million, Alkhobar registered 4.479 million transactions valued at SAR 332.549 million, Abha had 4.112 million transactions worth SAR 217.228 million, Tabuk recorded 3.888 million transactions totaling SAR 182.495 million, and Hail saw 3.719 million transactions valued at SAR 186.699 million. Other cities accounted for 25.940 million transactions worth SAR 952.808 million.
