Buraidah International Dates Carnival evolves into global platform

Over recent years, the Buraidah International Dates Carnival has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from a seasonal local festival for marketing dates into an international event that brings together production, trade, investment, and marketing, strengthening the position of the Qassim region in the date and palm sector both regionally and globally.

Strategic initiatives linked to the carnival, including the “Silk Road for Dates,” along with expanded partnerships and enhanced marketing and export channels, have opened new horizons for Saudi products. These efforts have connected the local market to international markets, supporting the spread of Qassim dates and boosting their competitiveness.

The carnival is built on an integrated economic system that includes a vibrant dates market, daily auctions and trading activities, supply chains and logistics services, as well as investment opportunities and date-related processing industries. This has turned the season into a wide-ranging economic movement that benefits farmers, traders, investors, and entrepreneurs.

Indicators from the palm and dates sector in Qassim highlight the strong economic foundation of the carnival. The region is home to nearly 11 million palm trees, with annual production exceeding 580,000 tons of dates and more than 100 varieties. Saudi dates now reach over 100 countries worldwide.

The Buraidah International Dates Carnival, which runs for 75 days, continues to establish itself as a global platform that brings together all stakeholders in the palm and dates sector, supports investment and marketing opportunities, and helps expand the global presence of Saudi products. This is part of ongoing development in a sector that is one of the key economic and agricultural pillars of the Qassim region.
