The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Northern Borders Region is continuing the implementation of a first-of-its-kind national excellence project for animal research and disease control.

This initiative represents a major step toward boosting veterinary security and advancing the veterinary sector by enhancing diagnostic services and research capabilities in the Kingdom.

Spanning over 17,000 square meters, the project includes several specialized facilities currently under development, such as administrative buildings, veterinary diagnostic laboratories, animal pens, central refrigeration units, knowledge buildings, and operational facilities including worker accommodations, storage tanks, and electrical infrastructure, all built to the highest technical and engineering standards. The project has a budget of SAR29,636,570.

The project aims to create an advanced scientific environment that supports researchers and veterinary professionals, improves methods for combating transboundary animal diseases, and enhances the food security and animal health ecosystem.

It also contributes to achieving the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 related to the sustainable development of the agricultural and environmental sectors.
