Wholesale and retail trade revenues in Saudi Arabia rise 3.2% in Q2 2026

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics announced on Sunday that the overall operating revenue index for the wholesale and retail trade sector rose by 3.2% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year. The index also recorded a quarterly increase of 0.6% compared to the first quarter of this year.

The data showed that the operating revenue index for retail trade, excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 5.2% year-on-year. Revenues from wholesale trade, excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, rose by 0.8%, while operating revenues for the sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles grew by 2.7%.

The authority also reported that the compensation index for employees in the wholesale and retail trade sector increased by 9.0% year-on-year during the second quarter of 2026.

This increase was driven by a 10.8% rise in compensation for workers in retail trade, followed by a 6.6% increase in wholesale trade, and a 5.7% rise in the sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

On a quarterly basis, compensation for employees in retail trade increased by 0.8%, while it declined by 1.7% in the sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and fell by 0.2% in wholesale trade.
